Easy.

We test everything on the intern first.

... Kidding. Mostly.

The truth is, quality control starts long before anything gets made.

Nate personally spends hours researching the benefits of different ingredients, digging into studies (you can find many on our product pages) and looking for proven oral care benefits.

He heads into the Test Kitchen to answer the ever-important question:

Will it gum?

AKA: can it be worked into our formula and does it make sense with our other ingredients? Is it a satisfying texture? Is it delicious?

Once we’ve decided on an ingredient, we need to figure out the sourcing.

If you’ve been following us, you already know Underbrush Gum is made of wild-foraged ingredients sourced from forests around the world.

Every ingredient also comes with documentation from our suppliers.

And we actually go to some of those forests to see where our gum begins and experience the harvesting process ourselves.

Trust...

But verify.

From there, every ingredient gets tracked.

Every pallet has its own code.

Every storage location has its own barcode.

Every movement gets scanned.

We have our own factory and have even developed our own machines specifically for making Underbrush Gum.

Then comes
the fun part.

We spend hours actually chewing the gum.

And then we repeat until we’re satisfied you will like it.

Natural ingredients like mastic and spruce sap can vary from harvest to harvest, so every batch requires a check in.

If it doesn’t feel or taste right...

It doesn’t move forward.

Throughout the process, all of our ingredients, pieces, and even our boxes are checked.

Again.

And again.

We’re looking for anything that doesn’t belong.

When Nate started the company, it was just him.

One of the biggest surprises?

How incredibly strict food manufacturing standards are.

Honestly...

We’re glad they are.

Because every pack that leaves our warehouse has passed through a lot of hands, a lot of inspections, and a lot of people asking one simple question:

“Would I be happy if this showed up at my door?”

If the answer isn’t yes...

It doesn’t ship.
