Hands on with the first-ever foldable iPhone, Ralph Lauren’s ‘family tree,’ and more...

In military surplus and vintage shops throughout the Midwest, collectors scour the racks for two types of fleeces: heavy wool M-51 liners developed by the U.S. Army in the ’50s, and classic performance fleeces pioneered by rock climbers in the late ’70s. Relwen founder Jamie Rupp borrowed from both when designing the new Wooly Shag Snap-Zip Fleece. The double-brushed knit pile fleece delivers top-notch warmth and breathability while holding its shape and never feeling too heavy. He bolstered the design with a roomy chest pocket for stashing gear, bound hems and cuffs, and a neck that zips and buttons to keep the cold out. It just landed for fall, and we can already tell it won’t last long in our warehouse. Get yours while you can.

Ageless and a little irreverent, a Western piece, worn the right way, can feel liberating. In the ’70s, Ralph Lauren spent time canvassing the places popularized in early Westerns, and after he came back, he put it like this: “I started coming to work in cowboy clothes every day; it gave me a sense of freedom.” Whether you’re a seasoned snap-shirt collector or just learning the ropes, fall is the ideal time to try your hand at this timeless American style. To get you started, we rounded up our newest Western-inspired pieces—like selvedge denim, hard-wearing workshirts, and hand-built boots. Plus, 20 legends who made the look their own, from Willie Nelson to Cormac McCarthy.
