Hey there,
How far would YOU go for good ingredients?
Personally, I’d go pretty far.
Like... across the world far.
When I started making Underbrush, I didn’t just want to make the best chewing gum on the market. I wanted to make gum that could be oral care. Aside from taking down Big Gum, I wanted to answer one question:
“Is it possible to make my daily chewing gum habit actually help my teeth instead of hurt them?”
For me, the only real solution had to contain high-quality, real ingredients.
And sure, as demand for Underbrush kept growing, I could have cut corners in the name of speed and profitability.
I could have settled for whatever ingredients were cheapest.
I could have swapped our satisfying mastic resin base for mastic oil.
I could have used artificial flavoring instead of things like wild-harvested Manuka honey and real freeze-dried berries.
But that's not really my style. I’d rather find the good stuff. 😎
So when you chew Underbrush, you’re chewing…
Mastic gum from the Greek island of Chios.
Myrrh gum from the Horn of Africa.
Chicle gum tapped from Sapodilla trees in Central America.
Spruce gum from the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
And if you’ve enjoyed our sweet seasonal Honey Bun, you've gotten a taste of hand-harvested Manuka honey from New Zealand.
Could we source ingredients closer to home?
Maybe.
Could we find cheaper alternatives?
Absolutely.
But when you're trying to something better, "good enough" isn’t good enough. So I'll keep searching the globe for the best ingredients. Alaska. Greece. New Zealand. Wherever I need to go to find ingredients worth putting in our mouths.
Because if I’m going to ask YOU to chew it every day...
I’m going to make sure it’s something I genuinely want to chew too.
