Standard issue for armored vehicle crews during WWII,
the original Tanker Jacket was a practical and pragmatic design that wouldn’t snag on levers, hatches, or controls as soldiers moved around within. The new version of Relwen’s Tanker Jacket, reworked in partnership with founder Jamie Rupp based on your feedback, expands on that approach. Balancing military utility with timeless tailoring, the Quilted Thermal Tanker Jacket features an updated construction, a refined fit, and heavier insulation, without adding bulk. It’s built from a soft, suede-like peached poly-cotton-nylon shell—with a rain-resistant coating on the backside—stitched through to its liner to prevent tears and keep the insulation in place. And as a nod to the earliest Tankers, it has an upright, wool-coated collar, functional pockets, and an adjustable waist.

In 1873, Bavarian businessman Levi Strauss and Nevada-based tailor Jacob Davis patented the idea to put copper rivets on work pants to reinforce stress points. Originally designed for the miners and laborers of the American West, those riveted waist overalls were eventually renamed the 501. For Strauss, what started as a practical fix for blown-out pockets and split seams would eventually become the blueprint for all blue jeans that followed. Levi’s Blue Tab Collection nods to the brand’s hardwearing heritage, combining quality materials and time-tested manufacturing techniques. Made in Japan on traditional shuttle looms, the Blue Tab 501 is cut from 100% cotton selvedge denim with a vintage-inspired button fly, a straight fit, and a blue selvedge ID.
