This week, we capped OnStar’s 30th anniversary celebrations with a pair of pieces on the GM News homepage. The first was an original story from GM News editor Chris Perkins, who wrote about GM’s fascinating Driver Aid, Information, and Routing System – these technologies were essentially the OnStar of the Sixties.
Alongside the launch of OnStar’s Fleet Intelligence platform, these OnStar 30th capstones showed us that progress isn’t built overnight, it's a continuous and essential pursuit at General Motors.
The same goes for advances in battery technology. GM just announced its plans to produce lithium manganese rich (LMR) battery cells at its plant just outside Nashville. This story received wide media pickup, positioning GM at the forefront of bringing this tech to market.
That dedication to safety and technology continued to drive sales in 2026. Read all about it in GM’s full Q3 sales report, which noted:
“GM continued to see strong demand for its portfolio in the U.S. market in Q3, extending its industry lead in segments like full-size pickups and full-size SUVs and fleet sales, along with record sales of affordable, small SUVs.”
GM’s progress in safety and technology builds an essential tie with consumers. Call it ‘trust’. Strong sales show that customers are placing their trust in a promise: that GM’s vehicles have always become safer, smarter, and more efficient with time. And that they always will.
