Many conventional mouthwashes rely on high concentrations of alcohol to leave your mouth feeling "clean."
🔥 You're told to swish through the burn. 😢 You set a timer and try not to tear up. But that burning sensation? It’s not a sign that it's working. Alcohol and other ingredients can irritate sensitive mouth tissue. And many conventional antiseptic rinses don’t discriminate between the bacteria you want and the bacteria you don’t. The problem with that? Your mouth has good bacteria, too. 🦠
To make it worse, alcohol-based rinses can also contribute to dry mouth. That matters because a healthy oral microbiome relies on healthy saliva production.
So...back to the question, Friend:
Is all mouthwash bad? We don't think so.
