Tesla vehicles are engineered to be the safest in the world.1 Every new vehicle is equipped with passive safety systems that can take action in the event of a collision.

When a Tesla driver was rear-ended at a stop light, his vehicle exterior helped absorb the energy of the crash to help keep him safe. After the collision, the vehicle automatically contacted emergency services.2

1Tesla vehicles have earned five-safety safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) New Car Assessment Program, European New Car Assessment Programme and Australasian New Car Assessment Program. Ratings for each vehicle trim and model year may vary. Not all vehicle trims and model years have been tested by the agencies.
2In the United States, after a severe crash with airbags deployed, a countdown appears on the vehicle touchscreen. If a phone is connected by Bluetooth, the vehicle places a 911 call after six seconds unless the driver cancels it, or sooner if the driver confirms. Premium Connectivity is not required. The call does not send crash details. Call 911 directly in an emergency. This feature is not a substitute for emergency services. Tesla also automatically sends an incident data report to the customer via email immediately after an accident for assistance with any insurance claim or similar.
