At 35, Tanner learned he had prostate cancer. He had no symptoms.
The first signal appeared years earlier in his Function results. His prostate specific antigen (PSA) was 1.0 ng/mL.
A year later, it had more than doubled to 2.6 ng/mL.
Tanner followed up with his doctor and was told not to worry. Then his PSA climbed to 4.8 ng/mL.
He pushed for a urologist, then an MRI. When the MRI found 2 lesions, he was given the option to wait another 6 months. He chose to keep asking questions.
Tanner requested a biopsy. Seven of 15 samples came back positive for prostate cancer. He ultimately had surgery to remove his prostate.
Today, Tanner feels healthy and has a very different perspective on speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.
“No one’s gonna care as much about your health as you do. So you really have to take control.”
