TUNING OUT THE MODERN WORLD IN A 1979 SCOUT II

Most people avoid discomfort. Chris Hunt drives straight toward it.

In our latest episode of Driven by Community, we head into the Mojave with a film photographer who does everything the hard way—by choice. Chris shoots film because it demands more of him. He ditched the mic on his ham radio to learn Morse code. And he explores with his partner Louisa in a 1979 Scout II™ Rallye™, rebuilt from the frame up after the truck he bought turned out to be held together by optimism and bent metal.

"I'm always chasing discomfort," he says. "That's where you find the most meaning."
