HIUT launches its first product beyond denim, the Hiut Welsh Blanket, a limited edition of 50 pieces made in collaboration with Daniel Harris of The London Cloth Co. The blanket is woven at Elvet Woollen Mill in Wales using 100% wool and traditional techniques. It marks the debut of HIUT's Workshop Wisdom Crefft initiative, celebrating skilled craftsmanship and textile traditions.

Workshop Wisdom Crefft brings the work of exceptional makers into everyday life.

An extension of Workshop Wisdom, Crefft — the Welsh word for Craft, pairs Hiut with makers who share our respect for materials, skilled hands and knowledge earned through practice.

For the first Workshop Wisdom Crefft piece, the Hiut Welsh Blanket felt like a natural place to begin: useful, beautiful, and shaped by the knowledge required to make it well.

Just 50 blankets have been made.

ELVET WOOLLEN MILL

The Hiut Welsh Blanket is woven at Elvet Woollen Mill in Cynwyl Elfed, around 30 minutes from our factory in Aberteifi. Made with Daniel Harris of The London Cloth Co., it uses 100% wool, the traditional Caernarfon pattern and a reversible double-cloth construction, woven in Hiut colours.

Daniel took ownership of Elvet Mill in 2022 and has been restoring its historic machinery and returning its looms to work. There is a natural kinship between the mill and Hiut: skilled hands, a respect for craft, and a belief that textile traditions have a useful place in the present.
