No product is more emblematic of 90s-era ACG thanMan’s Best Friend, a high-pile sherpa fleece the outdoor-leaning sub-label launched in 1996. An enigmatic name. An enduring, albeit ahead-of-its-time design. Off-the-wall ad campaigns to support its release. Now, after a 30-year hiatus, the Man’s Best Friend fleece is back exclusively at Huckberry, alongside matching pants. The pair gets its name from the original interior-facing label, which depicted a shaggy white hound inspired by a former lead designer’s dog. That’s why collectors sometimes call Man’s Best Friend “Pete’s Fleece.” Or so the story goes. Nike’s archive is thin. Documentation is sparse. But people kept looking for it long after they stopped making it. It’s an important piece of ACG history that helped push the brand off the track and onto trails.
