GM Forward: a vision of the future
It feels like the future arrived early this week. The GM Forward 2026 event kicked off in New York City on Wednesday, and GM News marked the occasion with a homepage takeover that was bursting at the seams. Across digital and on-stage presentations at Forward, GM’s leaders offered an in-depth look at the company’s vision for the future.
Spoiler: much of it is already here. Let’s dig in.
For a primer on the event, take a look at our central hub here. It covers all of Forward’s biggest announcements, like how GM is working to cut the traditional four-to-five-year vehicle development timeline in half with clever advancements in enterprise AI and virtualization.
That product development pipeline is already shaping GM’s fourth-generation EV platform, reaffirming the company’s commitment to an electric future. And while AI accelerates how GM’s vehicles are designed and developed, its next-gen electrical and compute architecture redefines what those cars can do.
For example, picking up your groceries. No driver required. Click the link to learn about GM’s path to personal autonomy, what it means for the future, and how that tech will expand to the company’s most popular models.
A familiar blue button will accompany these advancements, in turn advancing itself; GM is transforming OnStar into a connected intelligence layer, powered by AI features that aim to make every drive more personal and enjoyable, while continuing to provide the timely assistance customers trust.
For a deeper dive into how these new technologies work, visit the GM News Engineering blog. Here you’ll learn about how software-defined vehicles improve the return on digital capital and how GM’s Road to Sim pipeline converts data logs into high-fidelity simulation scenarios.
